Kiosk funds purchase of equipment

BROKEN Hill Hospital’s Kiosk Auxiliary volunteers have donated $161,313.30 to the hospital and Far West Local Health District to purchase much-needed medical equipment.

The money was donated earlier this year and has funded the purchase of multiple new items, including a device for specialist clinics to measure eyes, three defibrillators, an ECG machine for the oncology unit, 20 new patient handsets, an instrument trolley for the dialysis unit, and a new vital signs monitor for the surgical ward.

Broken Hill Health Service’s general manager Julie Manoel said the health service is very grateful for the Kiosk volunteers.

“This equipment, which we can use across the whole hospital, is incredible,” Ms Manoel said.

“We say it all the time that our health service really benefits from the contribution of all our volunteers.

“I sincerely thank all the volunteers and the Kiosk Auxiliary for their generous donation.”

If anyone is interested in joining the volunteers contact Auxiliary president Betty Sammut on 0400 183 146.
