THE first two rounds of our club championships begin this weekend with the final two rounds being played on Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, bringing the championships to a conclusion following 72 holes being played.
Members are advised to read the conditions of play available at the golf shop, and just a reminder to all players that they need to complete the four rounds to be eligible for trophies awarded that include the sponsored best net carded on each day of the competition.
Also be aware that the mercy rule of maximum 10 shots has been deleted and all players must count and record every stroke played on each of the 18 holes on their score card.
The preferred lie rule, which is optional, remains in play that has been extended to one club length from where the ball comes to rest and must be marked before lifting then cleaned and placed accordingly, not nearer the pin.
The preferred lie option can only be used on the grassed areas on the course and only on the fairway being played.
The preferred lie rule does not apply to bunkers nor hazards as marked by red pegs.
The final two rounds of the championship will be decided with the top eight gross scores in each grade carded.
Those players that qualify for the seeded draw will be able to view the result on our face book page and also a copy of which will be available in the golf following the conclusion of the second round.
Any changes to the seeded draw, those members affected will be notified by the match committee following results recorded after the third round.
All players are encouraged to finish the championships in total, meaning that if you do not qualify for the seeded draw, that does not mean you are out of the championships as there are other trophies to be won but only if you complete the four rounds.
