TOWN Square was officially opened on a sunny Saturday.
As well as a ribbon cutting ceremony, there were stalls and businesses.
The opening of the time capsule from 2000 saw letters handed out to more than 200 people, businesses and local organisations.
Local woman, Sarah Baum, uncovered a poem she wrote 25 years ago.
Titled Thoughts of Broken Hill by Sarah Mae Carnie.
It read,
Broken Hill has plenty of art,
it has come a long way since horse and cart.
You can go out bush there’s plenty to do,
see a few birds and some kangaroos.
But don’t forget to wear a hat,
it gets hot in the outback!
Don’t forget to see our sculptures, and see
the Aboriginal cultures.
You can go to Silverton, which is a ghost town,
and also, Mundi Mundi and see the sun go down.
You can visit underground and see
where silver, lead and zinc are found.
Visit the White Rocks where the Turkish were blocked,
there’s plenty of history in that spot.
