ANOTHER year is almost over, and it’s been one of great progress for Council and our city.
We’ve seen construction sites pop up all over town as Council has commenced numerous important projects for our community.
From Argent Street paving and the Town Square upgrade, through to the new library and netball courts, there has certainly been a lot going on this year.
I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as these projects have rolled out. I know construction works can be an inconvenience, but these projects are all for the benefit of the families of Broken Hill.
Although these projects may slow down around Christmas time, please be assured it will be back to business as usual in the New Year. The same applies for Council itself, which will enter its shutdown period on Monday, December 23 and reopen on Monday, January 6.
Speaking of the New Year, don’t forget the annual New Year’s Eve party in Sturt Park from 6.30pm. There will be live music, amusement rides and games, mini golf, food vendors, and much more.
To those travelling over the holiday break, please be sure to drive carefully and return home safely. To those staying in Broken Hill for Christmas, please be sure to make visitors feel welcome, and promote all the tourist attractions and activities available in our great city.
I also want to remind everyone to take care in the hot weather over the break. Be sure to stay hydrated, and be safe around pools if you or your family are enjoying a swim to beat the heat.
