Man who allegedly assaulted cop faces court

A 30-year-old man will face court again in June following an alleged incident that injured three Barrier Police District constables.

Following reports of a domestic incident on Thursday, May 22, Barrier Police District officers attended a home on Wolfram Street, Broken Hill.

In an attempt to arrest the man, a struggle allegedly ensued; with two constables receiving minor injuries and one having to attend the Broken Hill Hospital for his hand.

The constable’s hand was confirmed at the hospital to be fractured during the incident.

The man is charged with common assault, stalking/intimidating, destroying or damaging property, two counts of assaulting a police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm, and hindering or resisting police officer in the execution of duty.

Following the arrest the man was taken to the Broken Hill Police Station and refused bail.

He first appeared before the Broken Hill Local Court on Friday, May 23, and his next court appearance is set for Tuesday, June 10.

He remains in custody with bail refused.
