Do you know where your bus is?

REGIONAL New South Wales travellers, including those is Broken Hill, are no longer behind Sydneysiders when it comes to public transport – they can now use their devices to find out where their bus is.

There are 3010 buses running across the state and for added customer satisfaction all of them have been fitted with a GPS devices, allowing passengers to track their buses and get accurate arrival times.

Opal Travel and Transport for NSW’s Trip Planner apps will be providing the route information, interactive maps, and digital timetables.

The upgrades also give Transport for NSW and bus operators information to improve services and keep buses on time.

Minister for Roads and Regional Transport, Jenny Aitchison, said she’s happy with the new developments.

“Äs someone who represents a regional community, I know how frustrating it is for regional commuters and public transport users who feel left behind when it comes to accessing real-time data,” she said.

“No matter where you live in NSW you deserve the same quality public transport experience.

“The Minns Labor government isn’t just upgrading houses, we’re leveling the playing field and building stronger, more connected regional communities.”

Ms Aitchison said there were more than 40 million bus journeys every year and all passengers deserve to know where their bus is.

“These upgrades eliminate the guesswork, now you’ll know exactly where your bus is and when it will arrive” she said.

“We are ensuring regional areas aren’t left behind but are equipped with the same world-class transport technology as our biggest cities.”
