THE Broken Hill Tennis Club is offering the opportunity to try your hand at tennis with a free community event next weekend.
Hosted at the O’Neil Park Sporting Complex, the event will run between 5.30pm and 8.30pm and include live music and a barbeque.
Tennis coach Rusty Powers said the idea is to encourage participating.
“Just to get some people on the court and have some fun,” he said.
“We’re encouraging community to come down, they cam come and learn what the club is about and the different opportunities we have.”
Mr Powers said all ages and skill levels are welcome.
“We’ve got juniors, social tennis and competitive tennis. We’ll have coaches on the court running drills, activities and games for toddlers upwards,” he said.
“We have modified nets that are smaller for little ones so it’s not as dynamic or fast, and they can experience the thrill of being on the court.”
Those who don’t have rackets will be able to borrow one for the club for the afternoon.
“Coaches can show them how to wing a racket for those that haven’t ever played before,” Mr Powers said.
“For those that can actually play, they can, or we have a bit of a social tennis court too.”
