A CRASH between a car and a truck has resulted in a fatality near Wilcannia during the week.
At about 8.45am Tuesday, emergency services were called to the Barrier Highway, about 2km south-east of Wilcannia, following reports of a crash.
The driver of the car – a man in his 30s – died at the scene.
The driver of the truck – a man aged 25 – was taken to Wilcannia Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
The Barrier Highway was closed in both directions and motorists were advised to avoid the area during the week.
