Two cars stolen at town in 24 hours

TWO cars have been stolen in separate incidents within 24 hours of each other last week at Menindee, with the alleged assailant(s) still at large.

The first alleged crime took place 11.30pm on Thursday, January 16, on Yartla Street, Menindee, with officers attached to the Barrier Police District notified of the alleged crimes.

A NSW Police spokesperson for the police said officers were informed an unknown person had broken into the house, stolen the keys to a Mitsubishi utility and then left driving the vehicle.

“Following investigations, around 2.30am on Friday 17 January 2025, police located the ute, which was burnt out on Pooncarie Road, Menindee,” the spokesperson said.

The second alleged incident occurred at 3.30am on Friday, January 17, following officers attached to Barrier Police District noticing a Holden ute speeding along Menindee Road.

“The vehicle travelled through Perry Street, then Paringa Street in Menindee, before police lost sight of the vehicle,” the spokesperson said.

After this incident the vehicle was reported as stolen, and after inquiries were made, located at Crick Park, Menindee at 10.30am on Friday, January 17.

Police are seeking information from the public regarding the above alleged crimes.
