FORMER councillor and mayor Ron Page looks set to step back in the role after the passing of councillor Dave Gallagher.

Cr Gallagher's passing left an empty seat within Broken Hill City Council.

The position will be filled with a countback that occurred on Thursday.

After the monthly BHCC meeting on Wednesday night, Mayor Tom Kennedy said the countback will be held about midday Thursday.
