JESTERS are top of the ladder after dismantling the Heat in round four of the 2025 Broken Hill Netball Association Summer Competition, winning the contest 42 to 16.
In the wet weather, the second half was a washout.
The 23 to five scoreline in the half not showing the dominance of the away team as rain made it hard for even the most talented to find their way onto the scoresheet.
The Jesters moved the ball from defence to attack as they made light work of the defensive set up for the Heat. Unavailability had not helped the home side, with their makeshift defenders giving too much space to their opponents.
The Heats’ stagnant ball use and movement was evident, and the Jesters didn’t need a second invitation to carve their way through with ball in hand.
The tall attack for the Jesters also worked well in stanza three.
Lillah Day had a lot of the ball in the third quarter, the Adelaide Thunderbirds youth product was able to finish off her team’s good work as the scoreboard began to sting.
Earlier in the night, rain played a crucial role in the contest as the Jesters took the most of their limited chances to open a three point lead heading into the first break.
In the second term, the Jesters were methodical in attack. The weather did not present many scoring chances as they ball was turned over. However, when it did get forward the Jesters attackers were able to make the most of the opportunities that were presented to them.
The halftime lead of eight was about right. The Jesters were in control, but enough of the ball had given the Heat a foothold. In the second half that story was all too different.
Elsewhere, North Blues’ back-to-back win streak was broken by a shock loss to West Flames Silver as they put themselves into second on the ladder. Last placed West Flames Black had the bye.
Next week sees Jesters and West Flames Black face off on court two, while Heat and West Flames Silver do battle on court three, North Blue will have the week to lick their wounds.
