Games on as netball complex opens

ANOTHER goal will be scored on the weekend with the grand opening of Broken Hill’s newly redeveloped netball complex.

Sunday will see the opening of the complex a facility designed to support the growth of netball and community sport in the region.

The official opening ceremony will take place from 11am at the O’Neill Sporting Complex.

This redevelopment project, included upgraded playing courts, modern lighting, improved player and spectator amenities, and accessible infrastructure to ensure an inclusive environment for all members of the community.

“These new courts are a game changer for netball in Broken Hill,” Netball Association president Tori McManus said.

“It reflects our commitment to fostering local talent, promoting active lifestyles, and providing a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy the game.”

The grand re-opening event will feature exhibition matches, guest speakers, and opportunities for community members to explore the new facilities.

There will also be activities for kids and refreshments available throughout the day.

“We’re incredibly proud of what this redevelopment means not just for netball, but for the wider Broken Hill community,” Netball Association Life Member Leah Carr said.

“It’s a space that will bring people together and support grassroots sport for generations to come.”

The $5m project was managed by Council and Public Works NSW and is funded by Broken Hill City Council and the NSW Government through the Resources For Regions program.
