Diabetes workshop at the Demo

REGISTRATIONS are now open for Diabetes Education Workshop in Broken Hill next week.

The free workshop is designed to strengthen the clinical and educational skills of health professionals supporting patients living with diabetes.

The event open to healthcare providers currently working or studying in the Far West, especially those interested in, or already pursuing, diabetes education qualifications.

It aims to provide help with hands-on skills, as well as advice on education pathways available for those working in diabetes support.

This interactive workshop is limited to 40 attendees and features practical sessions dealing with blood glucose testing, the management of acute episodes, and the correct use of blood glucose meters, Libre sensors, HbA1c testing tools and injection devices.

The workshop facilitators are Tamarla Smith and Tenayah Kelly from Diabetes Australia, along with Dr Shannon Lin, the Diabetes Course Director at the University of Technology in Sydney, Aunty Grace Ward, a lecturer with UTS and the Lead Diabetes Educator in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Stakeholder Engagement team with Diabetes Australia, and Wendy Bryant, a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience across public and private healthcare.

This Rural Doctors Network initiative takes place on Thursday August 14 at the Demo Club (Thyme on Argent).
