GP awards open for nominations

THE Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) has announced the opening of nominations for its excellence awards, urging the public to nominate their favourite health professionals.

ACRRM’s award season features 44 regional and national categories which are all open for nominations.

Professions that can be nominated include rural generalist doctors, researchers and educators, and practice managers.

The criteria for nominating are professionals who are delivering critical, and life-changing, care in remote, rural and First Nations communities and deserve to be recognised for their skill and hard work.

ACRRM president Dr Rod Martin said the awards are a great opportunity for the public and peers to acknowledge the work done in these areas.

“Often, the most impactful work happens quietly — working individually, within hospital teams, and at local practices,” Dr Martin said.

“Let’s get behind them and show our appreciation.”

The state-based award categories include Medical Student of the Year, Registrar of the Year, and Outstanding Contribution to Practice Management, amongst others.

Some of the national ACRRM awards include Outstanding Contribution to First Nations Healthcare, Cultural Mentoring, and the Distinguished Service award.

Award nominations are open until Tuesday, May 27. For information go to the ACRRM website.
