West v Central
WELL, the Robins have made me eat my words as they did a job on Central to the tune of 24 points.
I understand Central had a few players out but the Westies still had to get the job done, which they did.
This chucks another twist in the finals system in two weeks’ time.
Going by the ladder, Central will play West in an elimination final whilst North will play South in a qualifying final.
Whoever wins the qualifier will go straight to the grand final whilst the loser will play the winner from the West v Centrals elimination.
I don’t know how this game was played but I could only imagine West got their pressure and running game going again. This makes the finals more interesting, in total.
The last games this weekend will really have no bearings on the final ladder but all four teams should be congratulated on their commitment throughout the year. Players, trainers, coaches, should all be applauded for a great year of footy with plenty of ups and downs and everything in between.
Let’s just hope, for the benefit of the game, the league can be proactive next year and introduce the six-six-six rule which will completely open up all games.
The Robins will take on the Dogs this weekend and the Roos host the Maggies.

North v South
A FEW key points.
Dylan Browne is definitely a Lionel Johnston favourite; don’t discount North; Jayden Kelly is still North’s best player; our standard of football is decreasing; West are a sneaky chance; inconsistency is a part of our game; personnel does matter.
Onto the game. The contest was halved in most areas.
South’s class rose to the occasion when needed. North had a go all day and it was pleasing to watch.
South won the game but for most of the day it was quite even; it really was only in the last quarter that South broke away. Their big men were dominant as they utilised a tall down back in Mitch Henderson as a cover and Jordan Holmes kicked six and Dylan Browne set up the midfield.
I thought both teams had equal opportunity inside there F50, It really was an even contest around the ground. Both teams would have taken quite a bit out of the game.
I still think North could be a chance. Yes, South had a few outliers of Nug Purcell, Cat Schorn and Arlen Bird, whilst North’s play maker in Tyler McGuinness didn’t play, if either of these two teams make the grand final, you could guarantee a physical and tough contest there.
Spitefulness is obvious towards each other but I think the other layer is they do respect each other, it’s just that competitive nature they both have and it’s good to see.
South won this game by 21 points and they now take on Central next week in the final round of the season.
