Roos rolling, Dogs get it done

Dale Tonkin

South v Central

I OBVIOUSLY wasn’t at this game but the Roos got the job done by 60 points.

It shows to me South are playing with confidence and are well connected.

The Maggies had their first loss for over a month. Apparently, South swarmed the Magpies with every opportunity and hit the scoreboard.

It is of my belief when you play South, you have to pre-plan in order to take something away from them whether that be their possession game or stoppage play, whatever the case may be in order to upset their game

But it’s still fairly early in the season and teams won’t show their hands just as yet, but South keep getting the wins on the board.

They are now one game clear on the ladder and look to be charging on; strong club, strong team.

The Maggies are still in this fight and they should get some players back shortly.

They obviously missed their two new recruits on the weekend but they have plenty of time to make a men’s.

Exciting times ahead, I think, with genuine class football ahead of us all.

North v West

THIS was a game that showed how the six-six-six rule would benefit the competition.

It was just so congested with numerous stoppages, I just don’t see why the league won’t introduce it or at least give it a trial run. They would rather try to justify the four team finals, where a team doesn’t earn their spot in the finals rather then fix what it is clearly staring them in the face.

Why not be proactive and do what’s best for the teams and the competition.

Anyway, onto the game.

North outclassed the Robins with better efficiency by hand and foot.

The Robins had a dip but they fell short again, however they are inching closer to that first win.

Both teams had the opportunity to stay in their lanes. But for some reason they wanted to change the angles and hit up 50/50 options.

It’s my belief they both would be more efficient if they played their lane until they had to change angles. Not only is it more efficient but it is certainly harder for the opposition to score on turnover.

The Westies would benefit enormously from this tactic, as they turned the ball over time and time again, which North was sweating on it and pounced.

I have the upmost confidence in the Dogs; once they get their quality players back, they will be right in the thick of things.

The big man they recruited from Mildura looks a find, and Ethan Slatter adds another dimension to their forward line.

Norths’ young ones are continuing to develop and get the job done. Super impressive.

I think in the end, the Dogs came away 35 point winners.

The Robins did have some fight in them which I liked.
