South puts in a top display, West and Central go blow-for-blow

Dale Tonkin

SOUTH Broken Hill ran away with it’s Broken Hill Football League game against North, winning the inside ball and positioning themselves nicely on the outside.

it was thought to believe the amount of times they were allowed to exit the front of the stoppage and they kept outnumbering North at the source.

North didn’t even try to equalise the numbers, they simply allowed South exactly what they wanted.

Learnings from Saturday included that Big Dylan Brown is still worth his weight in gold, Marc Purcell continues to work and make the play, Cody Schorn has still got it, Todd Davidson still gives 100 per cent, and South juniors are connecting all the dots

On the flip side North’s Jayden Kelly is still ‘Mr Fix It’, Quinton Bevan still works extremely hard, Tyler McGuinness is just about the league’s best player, and North’s outside run in Talan Pitt and Logan Ferguson is quicker than any other team’s outside speed.

But on the day it was South that brought the intent.

I wouldn’t discount the Dogs just yet, after all it’s only round two, but South were running on top of the ground.

Their fitness for this time of year was telling, and the ground ball gets I would have to give a tick to the Roos.

All in all, it wasn’t a bad game to watch and I’m sure both teams are better for the run.

In the other game, West and Central senior’s football teams traded blows.Central would kick two or three, then West would bounce back with their own few goals. The game was an arm wrestle in the first half, good combative football.

It continued in the second similar, both teams trading blows and the game was a good contest even though Central ran out winners.

There were no losers in this game as both teams worked their way through the opposition on different occasions.

It was a very good spectacle with different skill sets on display.

The Maggies won by 14 points, but West can hold their heads high.

For the game to ebb and flow like that with transitions from both teams was impressive.

I think that the Maggies ended up on top through stoppage and clearance work, but all in all it was a good game to view.

Well done to both teams, still no six-six-six rule but plenty of speed humps.
