THE Broken Hill Football League’s Lightning Cup has been run and won with the Doggies prevailing and South showing they could be the major challengers in Season 2025.
However one thing is certain, any team can get a lucky break, with all four playing in the finals this year.
After casting an eye over the weekend games, in the big picture it was apparent and quite obvious that North is way ahead of the other three clubs in terms of development, I would say at least three to five years ahead, and I can see a dynasty on its way.
Maybe four flags in a row, their games played demographic is superior; their talent pool is superior; their juniors are better and extremely talented with a consistent work rate.
It might sound a little arrogant and there are for sure three other teams will be rolling their eyes at the declaration, but when it all washes up in the next few years it very well could be the Dogs with a smile on their face regardless of ins and outs each Saturday.
I really can’t see any team seriously challenging the Dogs. Yes, it will turn around at some stage but not for a while, I say.
On the weekend we saw Central still struggle with that outside speed, West look like they’re finding it tough, and South have a long way to go to bridge that gap.
However, it’s a long season and injury can play a part in a four team competition.
The first proper BHFL game will be on Anzac Day and every team has an equal opportunity, but for me it will be Dogs, Dogs, Dogs.
Let’s just see how the season pans out before you throw rocks at me.
I’m extremely bullish on the Bulldogs and there dynasty campaign started last year.
