THAT time is upon us once again all four clubs in the Broken Hill Football League have been working hard trying to stamp their authority on the competition while others are doing there best to climb the ladder.
This years season kicks off proper in late April, and below is a taste of what’s to come in 2025, where all four teams will do battle in the finals.
After heading out to each club’s re-season trainings below is a short summary in what’s been seen so far…
West
THEIR numbers have improved immensely there’s a good feel amongst the group and expected there’ll be a vast improvement from the Robins this year.
From the coaches box thanks to Chris Jones…
Attendance? – To exceeded expectations.
Focus? – Doing the basics well
Outstanding players during the pre season? – Cody McEvoy and the array of new recruits who are putting their best foot forward.
What can supporters expect to see this year? – Change in attitudes and positive outlook.
Challenges? – Overcoming old habits.
Recruits and departures?- Lucky enough to only lose a couple of players and excited to recruit some new stock.
What are you most looking forward in seeing from your group? – A complete change in our approach.
Leadership group? – To be announced
North
FOCUSING on their skill work and looking to improve base-level fitness have been a pre-season focus. Along with the few new faces the squad still has quality players all over the park. Keep an eye out for their juniors as North have the luxury of senior players, in both the mid-age and juniors range meaning they are primed for the next decade.
From the coaches box with assistant coach Aryton Walker…
Attendance? – very happy with our numbers.
Focus? – Improve our skill sets.
Standout trainers? – Just a really good group who are still hungry.
What can supporters expect to see this year? – Very similar exciting footy.
Challenges? – Ovals being available for use.
Recruits and departures? – We lost a couple which is unfortunate but we have a few good players back.
What are you mostly looking to see from this group? – Our age demographic is key we have a very good combination of seniors and juniors.
Leadership? – Ongoing process, so we are yet to announce our group.
South
FROM what’s been on show South are easily the most professional and organised out of the four clubs. They delegate extremely well both Randy and Brett are echoing the words from the senior coach Mitchell Henderson. South would have a bad taste in there mouth from last year and expect to see them at the pointy end of the season. They should be the main challenges for the flag.
From the coaches box words from assistant coach Randy Stenhouse…
Attendance? – It’s been very good, very good numbers.
Focus? – Change of dynamics.
Best trainer? – We just have a entire enjoyable group to coach.
What can your supporters expect to see this year? – A complete different brand.
Challenges? – To get better.
Recruits and departures? – We basically have a similar group who are focused.
What are you mostly looking to see out of this group this year? – Growth in everyone. We have a good mix of juniors and seniors.
Leadership? – We a continue to look at it each session.
Central
WATCHING central train shows everyone they’re working hard. They are probably done the most conditioning of any of the clubs. However, the improvements will be for nothing unless they inject some speed into their group. They have great key positional players but will need that speed across the ground to have a impact on the season.
From the coaches box with words from senior coach Greg Wellington…
Attendance? – Very pleased with our numbers.
Focus? – Our fitness and run.
Best trainers? – Brayden Beasley Luke Jones Sam Wilson and a handful of juniors.
Challenges? – Staying healthy keeping everyone on the park.
Recruits and departures? – We have a few old players back and we lost a very good senior player.
What are you mostly looking forward to see from your group this year? – We have built a very strong culture look forward to seeing that development game day.
Leadership? – We continue to work on it.
