Land services seek feedback

NEW South Wales Government agency Local Land Services, or LLS, which seeks to help farmers and landholders and rural communities manage land better is asking people to complete a survey on the way the organisation elects board members.

The review aims to work out how LLS can improve the process for voters, with the survey open to new and old electors and only take about five-minutes to complete.

The agency’s CEO Kate Lorimer-Ward said as the election process allows people to help pick someone to represent them, it needs to be accessible and as simple as possible.

“Whether you’re a past voter or have never voted before, we want to hear from you about what’s working well and where we can make improvements,” she said.

“Local boards play a key role in connecting Local Land Services to landholders and communities across NSW.”

LLS boards oversee local policy, planning and performance and look to work to tailor services offered by the agency.

The services vary from explaining land management systems, to assisting with native vegetation identification.

This board also has State Government reach, with each local board chair sitting on a NSW Local Land Services Board, which aims to keep statewide goals in line with the State Strategic Plan.

The review also aims to highlight which regulatory and non-regulatory changes might be needed in the organisation’s processes.

“While there was an increase in the number of voters in last year’s election, compared to 2020, we recognise there’s room to improve engagement with the election process,” Ms Lorimer-Ward said.

The survey is available online and closes on Thursday, April 17.
