Actors wanted, no talent required

HE was billed as “Man in Cap”, an extra with no speaking lines who darted across the screen in the 1980 film, The First Deadly Sin.

It was an inauspicious beginning that propelled Bruce Willis to the top of the heap in Hollywood.

You, too, can have an inauspicious beginning – all you have to do is contact Outback Casting and let the silver screen do the rest.

Outback Casting is who the big producers call when they’re looking for authentic Broken Hill folk to loiter in the background of movies, TV shows or commercials, and this time they’re casting for a mini-series that will be broadcast on the popular streaming service, Stan.

Shooting will take place in the Broken Hill area between August 30 and September 5, and there are 11 roles up for grabs for those who fit the following descriptions:

Male – Medium Aboriginal complexion, approximately 29 years of age, 5’6″ height, close cut dark hair, close cut beard and moustache, slim build.

Male – Caucasian, approximately 56 years of age, 5’6″ height, light brown hair, blue eyes, close cut beard and moustache, XL size shirt.

Male – Caucasian, approximately 36 years of age, 5’11” height, dark short, cropped hair, slim build.

Male – Caucasian, approximately 78 years of age, 6ft height, slightly balding, grey, close-cut hair, medium build.

Male – Caucasian, approximately 62 years of age, 6’3″ height, dark, slightly greying collar-length hair, medium build.

Female – Caucasian, approximately 67 years of age, 5’5″ height, long, dark, honey-blonde hair, size 8-10 clothing.

Extras, five required – Male or female between 20 – 50 years of age.

Though some of these roles are as “body doubles” for actors already cast, Outback Casting insists that nobody will be placed in any dangerous circumstance.

And the really good news is that you don’t even need the slightest whiff of talent.

Applicants must be Broken Hill locals, reliable and available for the duration of the shoot.

Just send a head shot and a full-length photo, with your name and contact details, to outbackcasting@mail.com, then start working on your Oscars acceptance speech.
