LOCAL photographer Adam Edwards is once again a finalist in this year’s Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Awards, for the third year running.
Now in it’s 22nd year, the competition saw entries of 1864 images from 449 photographers in 18 countries, with two of Edwards’ images selected among 99 shortlisted finalists.
Edwards said selecting works to enter each year allows him to take a look back at the work he’s created.
“I really didn’t feel like I had that much new work to put in this year, though on reflection I did,” he said.
“So I always set myself a day to look back at what I’ve got new from the year.”
Edwards said some of this year’s judges are prolific wildlife photographers themselves, so he was especially thrilled to have been selected amongst the finalists.
“I think the fact that both of my images that were chosen have wildlife in them is a bi of a pat on the back,” he said.
Work by all finalists will exhibit at the South Australia Museum, and printed in an exhibition booklet.
The winners will be announced on Thursday, August 28, with the exhibition at the South Australia Museum running from August 30 to February 1, 2026.
