Indigenous arts officer funding for local org

LOCAL arts organisation West Darling Arts have received over $100,000 in government funding to employ an Aboriginal arts officer.

The funding will allow the organisation to increase delivery of services to indigenous artists throughout the Far West.

“This funding will allow us to respond to the local needs of Aboriginal artists in our region, provide a pathway for employment for an Aboriginal arts worker, and increase the visibility of Far West NSW Indigenous arts and culture,” a spokesperson for West Darling Arts said.

“Our goal is to strengthen relationships with Aboriginal communities across our vast region, enhance partnerships with Aboriginal services, arts organisation and collective, and support cultural events.”

The organisation has also launched two surveys for feedback and suggestions from artists, individuals and businesses with an interest in indigenous arts in the region.
