FINALISTS in this year’s Perfect Light Film Festival have been announced, with festival director Steve Bastoni saying he’s thrilled that a few local filmmakers have made the cut.
“We have a couple of local entries in there,” he said.
“Jarrod Price, with his animation Olive Place, and Max Burrows, for best emerging filmmaker.”
Judges, Terry Serio and Leanna Walsman, have been selected to choose the winning films on the night.
“Terry Serio is the lead actor from Running on Empty, which is a cult classic,” Mr Bastoni said.
“And Leeanna Walsman has been in countless films.”
The final festival program has been organised and released on the festival website, with this year’s event to take place inside the Civic Centre.
“Friday night we’ve got a great film at the Silver City Cinema at 7pm,” Mr Bastoni said.
“An AACTA nominated film called Under Streetlights, which is a free screening, and then afterwards is a Q+A with the director and filmmaker.”
“Saturday we’ve got the film festival, so about 15 or 16 short films, including the winner of the Beyond Blue Mental Health Awards, a film called Superglue by James Southwell.
“Then our best emerging filmmaker, Max Burrows’ film Ghost’d, followed by 12 finalists.”
The Sunday will see the conclusion of the festival with a free filmmaking workshop at the Civic Centre.
Mr Bastoni and his team are set to arrive to town on Wednesday to begin preparations.
“Now we just need people to turn up!” he said.
“Free entertainment, music, there’ll be food stalls at the Civic Centre, a fully licensed bar. You don’t get free entertainment very often anymore!”
The Perfect Light Film Festival runs from March 21 to March 23 at Broken Hill Civic Centre.
