Keen beans at last panto

ACTORS, back stage techs and front of house staff at Theatre 44 will host the last performances of the year this weekend, with two showings of their Pantomime After the Beanstalk this Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.

A spokesperson for company said that the show promises “cross generational humour and plenty of opportunities to yell at strangers with no consequences.”

“A pantomime is a play based on a traditional children’s story, generally with music, laughs and characterised by the back and forth between the cast and audience,” the spokesperson said.

After the Beanstalk is a spin on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk and tells the tale of Jack as a rich man thanks to his earlier exploits, and owner of Jack’s Garden Centre.

He has a potting shed, cafe, and customer service office.

Unfortunately for Jack, that means he has staff, and some are less bright than others and one has designs on his wealth.

The cast of local Broken Hill actors features mix of ages, with kids appearing alongside adults on stage.

Tickets can be booked on Theatre 44’s Facebook page.
