Mad Max keeps trucking

SILVERTON’S Mad Max 2 Museum has acquired a new truck from the Razorback film for their collection of movie memorabilia.

Adrian Bennett, owner of the Mad Max 2 Museum, said he had received a phone call several years ago from a young man who said he had the Razorback truck on his property and wondered if the museum was interested in it.

Mr Bennett arranged to collect the truck on an upcoming trip but unfortunately lost the caller’s number when changing phones.

A few months ago a couple visited the museum who introduced themselves as David and Ginny Knyvett, and told Mr Bennett they were in possession of the Razorback truck, and that the original caller years before had been their son.

Mr Bennett said he was thrilled that he was able to be offered the truck for a second time.

“They told me the truck was mine and to pick it up whenever I wanted, it was an unbelievable moment!” he said.

The truck had been through the 2017 bushfires and had almost ended up as scrap, before the Kynvetts saved it.

“Although it had been through fire it didn’t look much different to how it appeared in the movie,” Mr Bennett said.

“Another set of tyres were fitted and the wheels unlocked and it was ready to be displayed back in Silverton where it made its first appearance in the film.”

The truck can be seen next to the Mad Max 2 Museum in Silverton.
