Students race laps around lakes

ON Monday, students from local primary schools participated in the Broken Hill Cross Country event at Zinc Lakes.

The event, organised by School of the Air, saw students from as far as White Cliffs take part.

Teacher Zac Sadeq said the hard work of organising the event paid off.

“It took many hands and many hours to put together this event,” he said.

“But we stand in awe of what the children achieved, one hard lap after another.”

Mr Sadeq said students celebrating their own personal achievements was an important takeaway.

“Every child who ran went home know they pushed themselves up to and beyond their own limitations,” he said.

Morgan Street Public School was named the champion of the carnival.

Students who placed in top six in their races qualified for the Barrier Cross Country Carnival, which will take place on May 30 at the Australian Inland Botanic Gardens in Buronga.
