OPPORTUNITIES for regional woman in NSW to pursue a career in engineering has been made easier with the assistance of the Kim Jackson Scholarship.
The scholarship awards a woman from a non-metropolitan area and enrolled in the Australian National University’s Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (Research and Development) single or double-degree financial assistance for the duration of their degree.
The scholarship, supported by the Skip Foundation in parentship with ANU, provides $25,000 annually to awarded students.
Lily Delves, from Griffith, said the scholarship made it possible to move to study engineering and science at ANU.
“I was raised on an irrigation farm, and growing up I was very aware of the significance of our environmental challenges,” she said.
“I always knew I wanted to work in this area and studying both science and engineering has given me the why and how, as I believe that real change involves both passion and practical action.
“The Kim Jackson Scholarship has given me the incredible experience of feeling supported at the very start of my career journey.
“You just know that you are surrounded by peers and leaders that want you to succeed, which is incredibly empowering.”
