Students make a splash

WESTERN Warriors, a collaboration of agencies headed by Western Landcare including Western Local Land Services, Murray Darling Wetlands Working Group and Gol Gol Public School Immersion Centre, delivered environmental awareness activities at schools throughout the Far West region last month.

The group travelled to schools in Ivanhoe, Clare, Balranald, Euston, Menindee and Railway Town and Sacred Heart Parish Primary Schools in Broken Hill.

Students from kindergarten to year six enjoyed learning about water in a hands-on environment.

They were taught about water bugs, water quality and wetlands, as well as being able to tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy habitats.

Students also learned about local native and introduced species, focusing on microbats.
