THE $224,000 raised for Beyond Blue has set a new record for the Mundi Mundi Bash, with more than 9000 punters also turning out last week to make the shape of Australia in support of the mental health organisation.
The previous number of people, set at Mundi Mundi Bash 2024, was 7243 coming together on the plains to make the shape.
Money raised through ticket and merchandise sales will be spent on providing mental health support, with Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman saying the funds raised will make an enormous difference.
“Thank you to the 9,000 people at the Mundi Mundi Bash at Broken Hill who took part in breaking this world record and for putting mental health on the map (literally!), encouraging people to reach out for help at the first sign of symptoms,” she said.
“Proceeds raised through the event will go towards the Beyond Blue Support Service which provides free, 24/7 counselling, advice and referrals to up to 800 people every day, no matter where they live in this vast country. This contribution will make a real difference to people’s lives allowing them to get support when they need it.”
The festival, which is now in its fourth year and has become the largest ticketed music festival in Outback Australia, saw it’s largest crowd yet this year with more than 15,000 festivalgoers.
While they gathered in shape they were serenaded by young Australian singer Amy Ryan, who sang John William’s legendary True Blue.
