Memorial all set to be reinstalled

RAIN has delayed the reinstalment of the Women’s Mining Memorial in Town Square.

The five-tonne memorial is posed to be returned after the re-opening of Town Square in March.

The memorial had to be moved from the middle as it was blocking an emergency access.

But City Council voted to have it reinstalled closer towards CP People’s Chemist.

The area has been sectioned off and the memorial finally placed back.

The memorial was made to recognise the efforts of women who had stood by their mining men during hard times.

A deluge of rain in the city has paused the process but it won’t be much longer until it is ready to go.
