TAILORED personal supports with an interest in getting people into the community is what Locals Caring About Locals stands for.
Service delivery manager Breeanna Pearce said the organisations assists the community in external and internal tailored person supports.
They provide community access, day programs and assisted living programs.
The organisation has recently purchased the former Alma Hotel to set up their new centre and they have hopes to extend into the community.
“We are deeply invested in our community, delivering personalised NDIS participant support across Far West Broken Hill,” Ms Pearce said.
“Our services include community access, in-home care, respite, emergency accommodation, transport, group programs, and capacity-building.
“The possibilities are endless, we’ve tried to incorporate more community days with Morning Teas, Halloween celebrations and Christmas celebrations.
“We get our clients involved in doing these activities.”
Ms Pearce said the service has grown to 25- 30 clients in the last 18 months.
“We’ve had rapid growth in the last year and a half,” she said.
“We offer day programs that help develop daily living skills and provide new challenges, like cooking classes and arts and crafts classes.”
The organisation also offers after-school programs which helps children with homework, sports and keeping active.
“We offer relief for families and have a teens program that helps with career opportunities,” Ms Pearce said.
Locals Caring About Locals will be one of the services that will have a stall at the Outback Disability Expo.
Ms Pearce encouraged anyone attending to come up and say hi.
“We welcome everyone,” she said.
“We’ve got our new space, and we want to showcase what we have and see what the community think we need to add.
“We would like to network and hear from other services, it’s important to network and say what we have to offer, what other services have to offer and work together to see what else can be offered in the community.
“It’s really important to have expos like these.”
