Hash House Harriers

Mark Mitchell

ON a cold winter’s night we gathered at 200 wolfram Street at the home of Mr and Mrs Itchy Nuts for run 2403.

Off we went on a paper trail. After 3.6 kilometres, we all arrived back to a fantastic fire bucket. We gathered around the fire waiting for hash hush to be heard, but that fell on deaf ears when I started the down downs. First up the hares, the Itchy Nut. Next up, we had a birthday drink; Mrs Itchy Nuts. Won’t tell you how young Marg is.

Next I had a birthday warm-up drink; only eight months and five days. Can’t wait.

Next, Nanny Rooter had a warm up drink to retirement — three months, seven days, four hours, three minutes and 10 seconds.

We had a quiz theme ‘Songs from Cartoons’, with Nipple Erect the loser — obviously didn’t watch cartoons as a kid.

Story one: Fang, after losing power at his house he looked outside. Everything seemed fine in the street, plenty of lights on. Checked the power board, switched power back on went back inside, only to find power out again.

So out he went again, went back inside, power has gone out again. After another couple of goes, the same thing happened.

The next time he went out he hid in the bushes, only to see a fellow hasher — who I won’t name — was switching the power off every time he went back inside.

Well done, Pixie Anne.

Story two: Beans is a horse follower who picks a horse out each Saturday.

He was gonna back a horse called Bombers are back, and being a Bombers supporter you would think he would back it at 80 to 1.

But no, he backed his bombers to beat the cats.

Well, that backfired.

With the cats beating the Bombers and the horse he should have backed Won oh dear.

Next it was joke time.

We had one good one out of four and that was mine, so I got a drink.

Next week, we are at the North Bowling Club. Go over the train line, turn left, not right, towards line of load. Does that make sense? If in doubt use your GPS. Our hare will be GI.

See you there.
