Hash House Harriers

Mark Mitchell

ON Wednesday, May 15 we gathered at 47 Morgan Street with our hares Pixie-Anne Ang Fang.

At 6pm, he called hash hush and off we went; some didn’t go; some had a short walk (me); and most had a long walk.

When they all got back, the fire bucket was ablaze. After a few lagers, the GM (me) called hash hush.

After a bit of chitter chatter they all had their eyes on me.

First up, the hares had their drink. We had a special run for hook 599. After a bit of choking, she finally finished her down, down.

Next up we had a palindrome run (me) run 797.

Next we had a welcome back drink (me) after I was away for a week.

Story one: Well, a couple of hashers are doing some volunteering at Lifeline. They went out in the truck to pick up some furniture at a house, went around the back. When they came back around to the truck, it was not there. The last someone seen it, it was being driven in Oxide Street with two offenders who stole it. Fang and the naked gardener are officially unemployed again: don’t leave the keys in the truck, they were told.

Story two: The naked gardener thought he was a good salesman at Lifeline selling a toolbox and a great set of tools inside for $10. The buyer got a steal. After about two hours, a worker at Lifeline asked where his toolbox and tools were. “Whoops,” the naked gardener said. “I sold them.” They got them back only after the naked gardener paid $100 to get them back. What a great start to his volunteering.

Story three: Mrs Moncreif should go to Specsavers after thinking a 25-cent coin from America looks like an Aussie dollar coin. The till was short when our treasure done the banking last week.

Jokes were the best this year with me, can’t remember who else.

Don’t forget the Mountain Gipps station 2400th run on the June long weekend: book now. A great night it will be.

Next week we’ll be at the South Hotel at Patton Street with our regular biro winner Wooden setting the run.

See you there. Cheers.
