Residents urged to watch for floods

NEW South Wales SES have advised residents living along the Darling Baaka to stay informed about potential minor flooding risks, especially for Tilpa and the surrounding region which is expecting to see slow-rising minor flooding.

The Darling Baaka at Tilpa may exceed the moderate flood level of 10.5 metres from May 9, potentially reaching 11 metres from Saturday, May 10 until Saturday, May 17.

Residents are encouraged to make plans for if they are required to evacuate, obey all signs and road closures, never drive or walk through floodwaters and avoid storm drains, pipes, ditches, ravines, creeks and rivers.

If you are at risk of isolation due to flooding, stock up on essential supplies.

Animals should be relocated to higher ground that won’t become an island.

Downloading the Hazards Near Me app and setting watch zones will help to keep informed about current warnings.

For emergency assistance during a flood, call NSW SES on 132 500.

The latest weather warnings and river heights can be found at www.bom.gov.au/nsw

Road closures can be found on Live Traffic, Central Darling Shire Road Reports or by phoning 132 701.

For livestock and rural animal assistance, contact your local Land Services Office by calling 1300 795 299.
