Event to shop local

BROKEN Hill’s Small Biz Collective have come up with a new idea to encourage people to shop local.

The Mother’s Day Sip, Shop and Spoil event will be held on Thursday, May 1, and will feature a guided shopping experience, refreshments at The Deli, and a major prize draw.

The event has already sold out due to its success, with attendees already looking forward to future events. It’s something Chloe Bannister, from Coco and May, is excited to make happen.

“There were a group of us, The Small Biz Collective which is The Lollipop Tree, Coco and May, The Broken Hill Bookshop, Sitting Bull, and The Deli, and we were brainstorming ideas on how we can get more people to shop locally, and came up with the idea to do the Sip, Shop and Spoil,” she said.

“There’s only one ticket left, which is really exciting.

“We’ve planned a progressive shopping experience.”

Shoppers will start at Sitting Bull, and then to Eclectic, Sampsons, The Broken Hill Bookshop, Coco and May, The Lollipop Tree, and finish up at The Deli, with Land Out West open after for cocktails and nibbles.

Ms Bannister says that she hopes that the event will encourage locals to support local businesses instead of buying online.

“There will be specials for the night, wine, nibbles, just to try and get people shopping locally instead of shopping online.”
