A SUCCESSFUL Youth Markets have been held for a second year in a row.
Broken Hill City Council, thanks to funding from the Department of Communities and Justice, hosted a Youth Week event.
“Given the huge success of last year’s Youth Market and consultation with Council’s Youth Advisory Group, it was decided to host it for the second consecutive year,” a Council spokeswoman said.”The market was held on the first day of Youth Week 2025 (April 10) as a Twilight Community Market with opportunity for youth 12-24 years to participate as stall holders, displaying art and hand-crafted goods, cakes stall, barbecue, drinks and vocal or musical performances showcasing their talents and passions with the community.
“This year saw a significant number of registrants with 13 youth involved in the market stalls, three bands and four vocal performers.
“The event was well attended and supported by the community from 3pm to 7pm and a vibrant market feel was enjoyed by all.”
This year Council incorporated a small business/ music industry workshop introducing the participants to the fundamentals of small business and music industry preparation, the spokeswoman said.
“The event has received positive feedback, and the Community Development Team hope to host another youth market event again in 2026 if a funding opportunity should arise.”
