Cake Decorators and Friends Christmas Stall on again

HOMEMADE and handmade goodies will once again be on sale at the Broken Hill Cake Decorators and Friends Christmas Stall.

The annual stall, in its 12th year, will be run at the Trades Hall from Monday, December 9, to Friday, December 13 – 10am to 3pm.

There will be decorated cakes, pottery, silk embroidery, novelty plants, glassware, handmade cards, Christmas decorations and jewellery.

There will also be homemade cakes, jams, relishes, biscuits, slices, pasties and nut loaves.

Cake Decorators publicity officer Vicki Sladden said they often sell out very quickly.

“We started doing the stalls, like this, in 2012 and then we asked anyone who did craft to join us,” Mrs Sladden said.

“If anyone does craft and they want to see their items, they are more than welcome to contact us.”

The stall will be in room two of the Trades Hall.

“We have everything from live plants that have been planted in novelty items to homemade cakes which are fresh each day,” she said.

“We have pasties coming in Monday, Wednesday and Friday but there are no holds as they run out the door.”

The funds raised from these stalls, which are staged twice a year, go towards helping the Cake Decorators learn new skills.

“We bring people to town to learn new techniques,” she said.

“We’ve had two workshops this year, one was working with chocolate, and we had two instructors come to teach us Christmas techniques and designs for animals.

“We did an animal fantasy line. These workshops are open to the public as well.

“We had new ladies come to both workshops and they’ve loved it.

“To join the Cake Decorators – there’s no cost. We meet once a month and it is more of a social gathering.”

Mrs Sladden said even with the cost of living going up – all their prices are still the same.

“The public has always supported us, and we really appreciate that,” she said.

The group also makes Christmas cakes for the Meals on Wheels to go along with their clients’ Christmas dinner.

Friend of the Cake Decorators Judy Farquharson will have her craft on display at the stall.
