Christmas Pageant and Party

THE Christmas Pageant is a well entrenched Broken Hill tradition, and this year is set to see up to a few thousand residents turn out to watch as the festive floats travel down the main

drag Saturday evening from 6pm.

The Christmas Pageant will begin on the corner of Lane and Oxide Streets, travelling down Oxide Street quietly as part of the ‘sensory aware zone’, before turning up the volume once arriving at Argent Street.

The floats will then travel down Sulphide Street and end at Sturt Park on the corner of Cobalt Street.

Community Development Coordinator at the City Council Rachel Merton said Council was happy with the number of nominations for floats as part of the pageant.

“We’ve received 44 nominations for the pageant, which we’re extremely happy with given the city was still recovering from the outages when nominations opened,” she said.

After the pageant the after party will kick off at Sturt Park, with festivities including food stalls like Fresh Pizza, Giovanni and Co, Mexican Kitchen and Outback Thai, an appearance from Santa Claus, face painting, a merry-go-round and the community twilight markets.
