Mounties Group donation

BROKEN Hill Musicians Club and Wilcannia Golf Club in collaboration with St Vincent de Paul will be distributing $100,000 donated by Mounties Group to local community groups worst affected by the recent power outages.

General manager of Broken Hill Musicians Club Michael Boland said that he sent out an SOS message last Tuesday morning and was overwhelmed but unsurprised by the response.

The Musicians Club will work in collaboration with St Vincent De Paul to ensure the funds are shared fairly throughout the community, with a focus on tangible psychological, financial and social support.

A spokesperson from Mounties Group said some of the money has already been allotted to projects such as supplying a generator to Meals On Wheels and replacing medicine for aged and vulnerable locals.

They’ve also donated 1440 water bottles to Wilcannia Golf Club, which was completely out of water and couldn’t supply hydration to the local community.

Mounties Group also plan to host a ‘Beers for Broken Hill’ social event at Broken Hill Musicians Club in December 2024, featuring live musicians and an opportunity for the community to come together.

More details on the event to be confirmed.
