Small businesses find their voice in new network

A NEW networking group for small businesses across the region has been established to help business owners to feel connected and supported.

Founder of the Small Business Network, Dylan Stone, said close to 30 small businesses have already joined which is an indication of the need for the coming together of community and advocacy on behalf of business owners who have been experiencing a challenging few years.

“Time and time again, through my work with Stone Business Consultancy, I’ve witnessed the growing struggles of local small business owners,” he said.

“Many of whom feel unheard during what has become one of the most challenging periods for business in our region’s history.”

The networking group is free to join for anyone in the Far West region, whether they’re currently a business owner or considering becoming one.

Monthly meetups consist of business dinners, seminars, workshops and guest speakers.

The first meetup, a business dinner, was attended by 13 local small business owners on Monday.

Gloria Hack, owner of Gloria Jane Hack Remedial Massage Therapist, said a range of owners from different local businesses attended the event.

“What I found excellent about the dinner was it was a very diverse group of people, people represented all different industries and experiences of business,” she said.

“The dinner and network itself provided a very comfortable platform for businesses to express their own stories and opinions without fear of judgement, which ultimately will strengthen their confidence and our local community more generally.”

Mr Stone said he hopes to establish a board of small business owners.

“We’re now beginning to fill our key board positions, including chairperson, secretary, publicity office and a number of committee places,” he said.

Small business owners can follow the NSW Far West Small Business Network on Facebook and access membership forms on the site.
