In the frame for gala dinner

THE Broken Hill City Art gallery celebrates its 120th anniversary this November, with a gala dinner event planned for November 8.

Not only will the dinner acknowledge the gallery’s history but it also marks 20 years since the gallery moved to Sully’s Emporium, one of the oldest buildings in Broken Hill.

Before the gallery was situated at 404-408 Argent St, it occupied the Technical College from 1904.

The gallery boasts the second oldest art collection in all of New South Wales, after the Sydney Gallery Collection.

The gala dinner will feature a three-course meal prepared by awarding winning local restaurant Saltbush, cabaret-style entertainment by character comedienne Jude Bowler, and live music by the region’s talented performers.

Tickets are $100 for members and $120 for non-members, and can be purchased on the city art gallery website.
