Illness wreaks havoc on greens

WITH pennant bowls postponed and a substantial number of North BHBC members not having recovered sufficiently from recent illness, nine social bowlers played on our club’s carpet green on Saturday.

The winning team featured lead Zac Weekes and his skip Steve Cutting.

Twenty participants played two games of social bowls on Tuesday.

There were three undefeated combinations, under the control of Stephen Balman, Lou Garnaut and Peter Balman.

A reasonably high number on the wheel saw Peter and his lead Tony Brown, win the afternoon’s major prize.

Charlie Sultana and Brian Fenton found the ideal line and length to attain one resting toucher each.

Wayne Williams and Port Macquarie visitor Graham Evans suffered a lapse in concentration when they delivered one wrong bias bowl each.

The men’s singles club championship semi-finals featuring Barry Hooker verses Stephen Balman and Wayne Williams verses Ryan Atkinson should take place on Sunday.

With two rounds left of the pennant season, North BHBC currently leads Zinc BHBC by 20 points and a margin of 72 shots.

Tomorrow is the last North home game and the teams are: Eden Ey, Tony Brown, Graham Riley, Barry Hooker (skip); Judy Calleia, Steph Balman, Lou Garnaut, Ryan Atkinson (skip); Ray Grenfell, Brian Jones, Jeff Rushforth, Wayne Anderson (skip). There will be a sausage sizzle after the match.
