APPLICATIONS for Foundation Broken Hill’s annual Training Grant Program are now open, aimed at supporting local casual workers, financially disadvantaged school leavers, and unemployed people.
The 2025 grants opened on Monday, February 3, and close on Friday, March 28, with $10,000 split between ten successful applicants up for grabs.
The grants, which were established in 2013, began with providing new skills and qualifications to long-term unemployed people, or casual workers.
Now, the grant helps those in need of more work opportunities, and financially disadvantaged school leavers.
Foundation Broken Hill chief executive Travis Nadge said the applicants are usually varied, coming from many different career-trajectories.
Mr Nadge said the grants have become more popular over the years, and that this year they hope to spread the support to wider demographics, like mature students.
“Applications from students undertaking apprenticeships or traineeships, as well as those undertaking tertiary studies, are all welcomed,” Mr Nadge said.
“The grant can be spent on requirements such as course fees, equipment, travel expenses, textbooks – anything that assists someone in achieving their qualification.”
Mr Nadge also had some advice for those wanting to apply.
“Applicants need to put their best foot forward when putting in their application,” he said.
“Remember it is a competitive grant program, so you will be up against others applying.”
