AFTER three months of alerts for blue-green algae in the Darling River near Wilcannia, WaterNSW staff have released a statement removing all warnings issued, as of last Friday.
However, people are still being advised to take precaution and consider risk when entering waterways regardless, as conditions and quality of water can change quickly.
Water should still be considered unsuitable for potable use, even when boiled.
A red alert for blue-green algae in the area was issued in mid November 2024, based on satellite imagery and on-ground observation.
WaterNSW red alerts warn of high levels of potentially toxic blue green algae, and both humans, pets and livestock are advised to avoid contact with water that has been issued a red alert warning.
Currently there is no algae alert in place for the area.
