THE Broken Hill Speedway Club will host the New South Wales Senior and Junior Sidecar titles this weekend, an event that club secretary Ali Howse said will showcase a high calibre of racing from across the country.
“It should be a very competitive night for both Seniors and Juniors,” she said.
“Collectively we have 15 nominations for the Senior Sidecar Championship from across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.”
The junior race will see three teams compete from South Australia and Tamworth, with the local Broken Hill juniors unfortunately unable to compete due to injury.
Howse said five local teams will represent Broken Hill at the senior level and called on locals to come out and back the home competitors.
“We encourage the community to come out and support the event,” she said.
“We have a full canteen and bar on site, so people are welcome to bring their picnic blankets and chairs and sit in the tiered spectator area to watch the racing for the night.”
Doors open to the public at 5pm with activity on the track from 6pm, and races commencing at 7pm.
Ms Howse encouraged interested spectators to purchase their tickets before midnight tonight, Friday, February 28 to save $5 on the ticket price.
“Ticket sales are moving fast,” she said.
