David Gallagher remembered

THE Civic Centre was filled to capacity on Friday afternoon as hundreds of community members, business owners, police officers and politicians came together to remember the late David Gallagher.

Sergeant David William Gallagher APM passed away on February 9. The retired sergeant was also a Councillor and a volunteer on many community boards.

It was standing room only as many turned up to pay their respects. Mourners were treated to moving speeches by Mr Gallagher’s daughters, Cassie and Reanna, the local police, Mayor Tom Kennedy, Regional Development Australia Far West’s Michael Williams and ABC’s Andrew Schmidt.

Local police officers formed a guard of honour as the casket was carried out of the Civic Centre and the guard saw the procession off.

Mr Gallagher was praised as being professional, caring and having a strong love for his town.

Above all he was remembered as a loving husband, father and a very proud grandfather.
