AT LEAST a dozen motorcycle riders will dress-up in their most “dapper” outfits for a cruise around town this Sunday, as part of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.
The ride, which was founded in Sydney and now takes place worldwide, unites classic and vintage motorcycle riders to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
President of the Broken Hill Veteran and Vintage Motorcycle Club, Wayne Orr, said this is the first year the club has taken part.
“I’d heard of it before and I brought it up at a meet and said why don’t we do this?” he said.
“And everyone said yeah, why not?
“It’s sort of a trial run, just to get the feel of it and get a response from the riders.”
DGR’s inaugural ride took place in Sydney in 2012, bringing together 3000 riders to help fundraise and spread awareness.
Participants need to register through the website to take part, and dress up in suits or formal attire for the ride.
Mr Orr said he’d been to the op-shops to source parts of his outfit.
The ride on Sunday will begin opposite Gloria Jeans, with riders than travelling out to Silverton for a few photos and back to town.
