DRIVERS are encouraged to slow down and drive safely over the upcoming long weekend, with double demerit points applying from 12am this morning (Friday) until 11.59pm on Monday June 9.
The sanctions are part of a statewide road safety operation for the King’s Birthday.
The effort by New South Wales Police commenced today, with the operation targeting drivers and riders speeding, drink and drug driving, fatigue and distracted driving, to prevent road trauma over the weekend.
