THE Barrier Boys AFL team competed in the NSW PSSA Championships at Blacktown International Sports Park earlier this month, securing an impressive victory of 57 to 6 in tough weather conditions against North West.
Wentworth Public School principal Joel Wilson and Katie Rawlins from Broken Hill North Public School travelled with the team, who displayed grit and teamwork on the field.
The first day of play saw games reduced to halves of 12 minutes due to poor weather, but despite this, the team’s results showed their resilience.
Barrier players, Javi Reberger, and Joseph Lanteri were highlighted at the conclusion of the tournament.
Javi was announced best player for the Barrier team and Joseph was recognised for his outstanding sportsmanship.
Burke Ward principal Kate Hogg said the students thoroughly enjoyed their time.
“The overall experience was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing their enjoyment and growth as players,” she said.
